Image formation in America<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het is het feestje van de democratische partij. Niet van de democratie in de VS (NRC 25\/8\/24). De euforie voor Harris is groot in het democratische kamp. Logisch, omdat de brekebeen Biden nu qua beeldvorming wordt vervangen door een wervelende kandidaat, die ook nog eens als vice-president niet als een konijn uit de hoed komt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beeldvorming is belangrijk in het mediagekke Amerika. Trump is daar een meester in en past daardoor goed in de Amerikaanse samenleving en met name zijn grote achterban. Daar geldt namelijk niet – zoals bij ons – doe maar gewoon, dan doe je al gek genoeg. Het beeld van Trump is duidelijk voor zijn voor- en tegenstanders. En daar komt bij dat de republikeinse inhoud \u00e1 la Trump ook niet is veranderd. Daardoor staat hij voor in de peilingen. Het beeld van de democraten heeft wellicht een ander gezicht gekregen, maar de inhoud niet. Die stond op achterstand. Sterker, typische vrouwenrechten krijgen nog meer de aandacht in het sterk christelijke Amerika. Daarbij is de haat tussen democraten en republikeinen in de straat groot. Dat er wat gaat veranderen is verwaarloosbaar. Maar als beeldvorming belangrijk is, dan heeft Harris mogelijk een belangrijk wapen in handen: willen de Amerikanen een officier van justitie of een veroordeelde crimineel? Trump als de president van ‘law and order’ krijgt nu zijn eigen spiegelbeeld als tegenstander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the Democratic party’s party. Not of democracy in the US (NRC 25\/8\/24). There is great euphoria for Harris in the Democratic camp. Logical, because in terms of image Biden is now being replaced by a dazzling candidate who, as vice president, does not come out of the hat like a rabbit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Image formation is important in media-crazed America. Trump is a master at this and therefore fits well into American society and especially his large support base. There it is not – as with us – just act normal, then you are acting crazy enough. Trump’s image is clear to his supporters and opponents. And in addition, the Republican content \u00e1 la Trump has not changed either. As a result, he is ahead in the polls. The image of the Democrats may have changed, but the content has not. He was behind. In fact, typical women’s rights receive even more attention in the strongly Christian America. In addition, there is great hatred between Democrats and Republicans in the street. It is negligible that anything will change. But if image is important, then Harris may have an important weapon in his hands: do Americans want a prosecutor or a convicted criminal? Trump as the president of ‘law and order’ now has his own reflection as an opponent<\/p>\n\n\n\n
