Het is doodeng.\u201d Het artikel in NRC 3\/10\/24 over de invloed van vrouwonvriendelijke influencer Andrew Tate op jonge leerlingen in Australi\u00eb eindigt met deze woorden van juf Metcalfe. Het is volgens mij nog enger, als deze jongens niet gecorrigeerd worden door hun ouders thuis. Ik neem aan, dat in Australi\u00eb toch ook 10 minuten gesprekken tussen docent en ouders plaatsvinden, waar dit wangedrag wordt besproken? Een geluk bij figuren als Tate is, dat zij de wet overtreden en voor hun vrouwonvriendelijke handelingen ter verantwoording kunnen worden geroepen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar zijn gedrag appelleert aan iets fundamenteel. Ook in Nederland. Een mensbeeld die een ander als minderwaardig ziet zoals vrouwen zit diep in het wezen van opgroeiende jongens \u00e9n meisjes: seksuele overheersing van de ander. Een oerdrift. Je ziet het terugkomen bij mensen met macht. Of het de kerk, de coach of de ceo is, het verschijnt een keer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het is nodig, dat al op jonge leeftijd deze oerdrift met rede omgebogen wordt naar respect voor de ander. Niet docenten, niet de overheid, maar ouders die voortdurend corrigerend optreden heb je daar voor nodig. Ouders die de complexiteit van deze digitale tijd zelf niet altijd machtig zijn te begrijpen. Het is een oerdrift. Opvoeders moeten dat niet onderschatten. Het leidt anders tot figuren zoals Tate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese are the adults of the future and they are learning that women are inferior. It’s terrifying.\u201d The article in NRC 3\/10\/24 about the influence of misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate on young students in Australia ends with these words from Miss Metcalfe. I think it is even scarier if these boys are not corrected by their parents at home that in Australia there are also 10-minute conversations between teachers and parents, where this misconduct is discussed? It is fortunate for people like Tate that they break the law and can be held accountable for their misogynistic actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But his behavior appeals to something fundamental. Also in the Netherlands. An image of humanity that sees others as inferior, such as women, is deeply ingrained in the being of growing boys and girls: sexual domination of the other. A primal urge. You see it in people with power. Whether it is the church, the coach or the CEO, it will appear at some point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is necessary that this primal instinct is converted with reason into respect for others at an early age. You don’t need teachers, not the government, but parents who constantly take corrective action for this. Parents who are not always able to understand the complexity of this digital age themselves. It’s a primal urge. Educators should not underestimate this. Otherwise it leads to figures like Tate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
