Maar de rekening van 117 euro voor twee personen en de afsluitende opmerking, dat de gerechten voor redelijke prijzen op tafel worden geserveerd en dat je dat niet veel meer ziet (\u201ckom daar tegenwoordig maar eens om\u201d) verdienen toch wel een opmerking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">Als je de menukaart digitaal opzoekt en je legt de prijzen naast de genuttigde gerechten, dan kom je erachter, dat dit vergelijkbare prijzen zijn. Sterker, een hoofdgerecht in LantarenVenster van tussen de 20 en 25 euro kent in vele soortgelijke restaurants een lagere prijs tussen de 15 en 20 euro. Zeker als je de bloemrijke omschrijving van de gerechten terugbrengt tot wat het in essentie is: vis met gebakken aardappels, lijken mij dit geen redelijke prijzen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Waarom ik hier zo\u2019n punt van maak? De prijzen in de horeca rijzen de pan uit. Natuurlijk, door geopolitieke spanningen zijn grondstoffen duur. Maar ook hogere lonen zetten de spiraal omhoog in beweging. En natuurlijk, het is een dooddoener het prijsniveau van v\u00f3\u00f3r Corona er steeds bij te halen. Zeker, er wordt ook kwaliteit geleverd. En als je het redelijke prijzen noemt, dan wen je er aan. Maar het zijn geen redelijke prijzen, dus benoem het dan ook niet zo in de recensie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">Hassnae Bouazza\u2019s culinary review of dining at the LantarenVenster restaurant in Rotterdam whets the appetite with its flowery narrative style and tempts the reader to pay a visit (NRC 10\/10\/26). However, the bill of 117 euros for two people\u2014and the concluding remark that the dishes are reasonably priced, something rarely seen these days\u2014warrant a comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">If you look up the menu online and compare the prices with the dishes actually served, you find that they are comparable to\u2014or even higher than\u2014the norm. In fact, a main course at LantarenVenster costing between 20 and 25 euros would often be priced lower\u2014between 15 and 20 euros\u2014at many similar restaurants. Especially when you strip away the flowery descriptions to reveal the essence of the dish\u2014fish with fried potatoes\u2014these prices do not strike me as reasonable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">Why am I making such a fuss about this? Prices in the hospitality industry are skyrocketing. Of course, geopolitical tensions have made raw materials expensive. But higher wages are also driving the upward spiral. And naturally, constantly citing pre-pandemic price levels is a bit of a clich\u00e9. Admittedly, quality is being delivered. The only limiting factor is the staff shortage; otherwise, restaurants are packed, though customers are increasingly weighing the cost before deciding to dine out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">But the speed at which prices in the hospitality industry have risen is abnormal. And if you call them reasonable prices, you end up getting used to them.
