Is the digital infrastructure now a system technology?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wordt het niet tijd om in het rijtje dreigingen van wereldformaat zoals de klimaatcrisis nu ook de kwetsbaarheden in de digitale infrastructuur op te nemen? Dat betekent topprioriteit geven aan cybersecurity.. Met het daarbij behorende geld, natuurlijk. Het regeerakkoord Rutte IV zet een stap in de goede richting. De nieuwste kwetsbaarheid is de logboektool Log4j. Een opensource applicatie verweven in zoveel software, dat het onmogelijk is op wereldschaal een overzicht te krijgen (NRC 15\/12\/21).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isn’t it time to include the vulnerabilities in the digital infrastructure in the list of global threats such as the climate crisis? That means giving top priority to cybersecurity.. With the money that goes with it, of course. The Rutte IV coalition agreement is a step in the right direction. The latest vulnerability is the Log4j logging tool. An open source application woven into so much software that it is impossible to get an overview on a global scale (NRC 15\/12\/21).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De digitale wereld is als een cocon om ons heen gespannen. Nog maar pas aan het prille begin van een internet of things (iot) en kunstmatige intelligentie (ki) maakt de wereld zich al op voor metaverse, een wereld van avatars. Een recent WRR rapport noemt ki een systeemtechnologie. Een technologie die bij misbruik de maatschappij kan ontwrichten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The digital world is like a cocoon stretched around us. Only at the very beginning of an internet of things (iot) and artificial intelligence (ki) the world is already preparing for the metaverse, a world of avatars. A recent WRR report calls ki a system technology. A technology that can disrupt society if misused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar waarom niet de gehele digitale infrastructuur als systeemtechnologie aanmerken? Dit betekent topprioriteit geven aan cybersecurity. De kwetsbaarheden zullen blijven. Het blijft namelijk mensenwerk. In een cyberwereld die alom aanwezig is. De georganiseerde misdaad zal niet aflaten lucratieve gaten te slaan in de beveiliging met grote kans op maatschappelijke ontwrichting. Volgens experts een walhalla voor met name ransomwarehackers. Dit soort hackers hebben een businessmodel die niets minder is dan die van de georganiseerde misdaad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But why not designate the entire digital infrastructure as system technology? This means giving top priority to cybersecurity. The vulnerabilities will remain. After all, it is human work. In a cyber world that is omnipresent. Organized crime will continue to make lucrative security holes with a high risk of social disruption. According to experts, a mecca for ransomware hackers in particular. These types of hackers have a business model that is nothing less than that of organized crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Cyber Security Raad (CSR) heeft eerder geadviseerd om in 4 jaar tijd zo\u2019n 800 mln te besteden in de strijd tegen cybercrime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het recente regeerakkoord Rutte IV maakt veiligheid tot haar speerpunt. Een structurele 1 miljard, waaronder voor het versterken van de justiti\u00eble keten tot en met 2031 jaarlijks 200 mln en structureel 150 mln. Daar valt cybersecurity onder. Een stap in de goede richting onze digitale infrastructuur als systeemtechnologie aan te merken. Maar eerst zien, dan geloven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
