Het is flauw van Hassnae Bouazza om het in haar ogen stigmatiserende handelen van banken in het kader van jihadistisch terrorisme bestrijding als bruggetje te gebruiken om de aandacht te vestigen op het in haar ogen echte terrorisme, namelijk het rechts-extremisme in Nederland (NRC 6/8/22 De vijfde colonne draagt geen djellaba). Alsof het gevaar van jihadistisch terrorisme niet meer bestaat en dus ook de financiering ervan niet meer. Dat zou echt in tegenspraak zijn met de uitkomst van het door de overheid over 2019 opgemaakte National Risk Assessment (NRA) over terrorisme dreiging in Nederland en de financiering daarvan. De grootste dreiging wordt door de AIVD gezien in het jihadistische terrorisme. De financiering ervan loopt veelal via religieuze stichtingen. Het rapport noemt in detail onder welke doelgroep het risico gezocht moet worden.

That would really contradict the outcome of the National Risk Assessment (NRA) drawn up by the government for 2019 on the threat of terrorism in the Netherlands and its financing. The AIVD sees the greatest threat in jihadist terrorism. It is often financed through religious foundations. The report details in detail the target group among which the risk should be sought.

Mogelijk, dat de focus in het volgende rapport wordt verlegd naar cyberterrorisme. Maar tot dan is het niet zo verwonderlijk, dat banken hun algoritmes instellen op een combinatie van deze factoren in hun klantenbestand, nu zij Europeesrechtelijk verplicht zijn ongebruikelijke financiële transacties te signaleren. Zeker met in het achterhoofd de megaboete eerder opgelegd aan het in gebreke gebleven ING. Met bijna vanzelfsprekend het gevaar, dat de banken langs de grenzen van etnisch profileren lopen en waarschijnlijk erover heen. Daar zou je nog wel eens stevige kritiek op kunnen hebben indachtig de toeslagenaffaire. Maar haar verwijt, dat de banken door hun aanpak moslims als een vijfde colonne – een geheime samenzwering – stigmatiseren is hetzelfde als de thuisbezorger verwijten, dat de afgeleverde maaltijd te zout smaakt. Klachten horen thuis bij de bedenker van dit alles, de overheid of beter Europa. In het NRA wordt ook opgemerkt, dat “niet kan worden uitgesloten dat andere vormen van terrorisme, bijvoorbeeld vanuit de rechts-extremistische hoek, de komende jaren zullen spelen”. Dus het pleidooi om de opkomst van het rechts-extremisme aandacht te geven wordt zeker gemonitord in het NRA. Overigens is de titel ‘vijfde colonne’ voor het opkomend rechts-extremisme door haar opmerking, dat dit “echte gevaar al open en bloot onder ons” is, een ‘contradictio in terminis’.

Incidentally, the title ‘fifth column’ for the emerging right-wing extremism is a ‘contradiction in terms’ due to its remark that this ‘real danger is already open and exposed among us’.
