Als middelkleine krant matigt het NRC zich een status aan die meer past bij een abonnee stand van 300.000. Om dan de fijnzinnige analyses van een democratisch gekozen Amerikaanse president te ontrafelen als leugens is aanmatigend en is geschiedvervalsing (NRC 21/2/25 Oekraïne begon de oorlog en 9 andere leugens). De krant kan zich beter bezighouden met het vertellen van de waarheid.
Het was toch dictator Polen, die Hitler zo treiterde, dat hij Polen op 1/9/1939 wel moest invallen? En dat Nederland zich zo agressief neutraal opstelde, dat Hitler op 10 mei 1940 wel werd gedwongen tot maatregelen, zoals het bombarderen van Rotterdam? En dat de landing van de geallieerden op de kust van Normandië een grove schending was van de soevereiniteit van het 1000jarige Rijk? En dat Rusland daarna wel moest optreden tegen de nazificatie door Europa? En dat het IJzeren Gordijn de Baltische Staten legitimeerde als Russisch grondgebied en dat het het agressieve Europa met haar nazi’s is geweest, die deze Staten heeft afgepakt? De Amerikaanse president heeft daarvoor in een telefoontje van anderhalf uur zijn excuses gemaakt aan Rusland. Hij belooft er alles aan te doen om die Staten weer terug te geven aan Rusland. Desnoods met geweld.
As a medium-sized newspaper, the NRC assumes a status that is more appropriate for a subscriber base of 300,000.
